Thematic Statement: "Don't look for love, let let look for you."
Title: Megan Mead's Guide to the McGowan Boys

Setting: The McGowan's house in Boston.
Point Of View: Third person
Main Characters and A Brief Discription of Each:
Megan: A sporty high schooler who is sick of moving around with her dad and all his army positions. Though she is kind of shy she learns to stand up to seven boys, from 6 to 20. Soccer is her passion and is eager to try out, but when she finds out some girls on the team arent exactly sweethearts ahe wasn't gonna give her positon up. Megan learns to stand up to peolpe and let herself be herself. She learns to find who she is while she is around the very different boys.
Evan: Evan is the second oldest of the McGowan boys and has been touched by "The Abercrombie God." He is one of the most popular guys at school and when Megan first meets him she almost drools. Evan's good looks aren't his only good quality. He is only the nicest guy in the school, but that detail has his girlfriend, Megan's swarn enemie, scolding him for his flirty ways.
Hailey: The soccer team captain, Evan's girlfriend, and quenn bee of the school, that's out to get Megan. As soon as Megan arrives she's uncomforatable with the fact of her living with her boyfriend. When she finds out Megan is a pretty good soccer player, it presents her the perfect chance to outshine, and destroy her.
Miller: The fourth oldest of the McGowans, has a severe case of autism and isn't very social. Miller's OCD ways tend to scare people away but Megan is determined to become friends with him so someone in the house will like her. Once you get past Miller's cover he's a pretty cool, music, red sox baseball, loving guy.
Regina: The McGowan mother who is dying for some girl comfort after being around 8 boys 24/7. When Megan comes she is thrilled but is soon disapointed to find she is a tomboy. Despite her atempts to do "girly" things with Megan she finally relates to Megan and tries to make her feel more comforatable around the boys.
Finn: A shy, kind of arty guy that is totally digging a girl at school. After going on a few dates with her he finds out she is the exact opposite of what he wanted her to be. After he starts hanging aroung Megan ALOT, (because he is the only nice brother), he finds out she is a perfect example of what he wants. When his parents catch him kissing Megan he is in for it, and doesn;t know if he will ever be with her again.
Central Conflict and how it was related to the theme:
Megan is a typical army brat who calls it quits when her parents decide to move to Korea. She so excited that she's not moving until she finds out who she's staying with. Her parents decide to leave her with an old family friend that have 7 boys and they aren't really noticing Megan. Once they get to know her they are going to get her. Megan is split between the two oldest brothers who are completly different. Evan is more of a jock, while Finn is a layed back artist. She has to decide between these boys but there are a few problems in the way, Mrs. and Mr. McGowan, Evan's girlfriend, and all the other boys running around.
How was the theme developed?
I think theme was developed when Megan was trying to decide if she wanted Finn or Evan. Megan went back and forth between the boys trying to find both their good qualities and how they would work with her. She tried to put herself out there to show them she was it but it didnt work. When Megan finally layed off and was herself, they noticed her more and Finn actually fell in love with her. That's why my theme is "Dont look for love, let love find you."
If this was a newly selected author would you read another story by her?
Yes!, I think that Kate Brian(Kieran Scott) really reached the things teens discuss most and have trouble with, like decisions and plans. I will continue to read her for a while because I feel she is one of the best teen authors yet.
Which was your favorite?
I think that all three of the books could be put in different catagories of love so im not really sure which would be my favorite. home page
